I’m pretty sure this is why they keep the end times they do. The events tonight end at 9 and 10 pm on the west coast, meaning they probably have people working when events end. If European players got their wishes of different end times, the servers could stay down for 4-5 hours before anyone was able to fix it, instead of less than an hour. (though this current outage is one of the longest I can remember.)
First they make 2 events close to each other
Then they are completely incompatible with European time, so I woke up 4 in the morning
The program stopped working twice so I needed to buy health packs to compensate the shity bugs of this program
And when I thought I could play… BOOM
Now we’ll have a lame mail with 10 ISO maybe. And if we complain two much they will get our attention elsewhere by nerfing any cool character.
Yeah D3 really doesn’t care as long as they get our money because they know we’re slaves to this game.
I really need to re-evaluate my life because staying in the top 10 for the Deadpool event was misery and it made me question what I’m doing with my life.
So thanks Deadpool, I was stressing and using even super scrub characters just to get a cover… christ.
Someone got notified when the servers went down. Someone’s working in it. That’s how these things go. But if the servers come back before start of business tomorrow, don’t expect any communication other than “looks fine!”
I’m pretty sure these guys are located in Boston though, so that’s midnight end times.
Either way I’m sure they’ve got people working on it. They run a 24/7 service they have to have 24/7 support. Plus, historically, event ends have been when they’ve had the most server trouble so they should have at least been aware of the possibility tonight.
lol, if MPQ or anything other game is affecting your life, you should probably reevaluate regardless of this event and placement.
Seriously, do anyone saying a game is messing up your sleep patterns, or ruining your relationships with your significant others, please stop playing like that. It’s just a game. It’s not worth risking real life stuff over.
Figure out how much you can comfortably play, and stick to that.
I can just picture the one guy left on the overnight shift at D3 sitting there watching the server reboot…
“Ok… just press the power button. Ok, going through the POST… loading GRUB… Fedora is loading… OH SHI(err…) TINYKITTY! Stupid fsck**! I don’t care if the disks haven’t been checked in over 180 days! We’re at the end of an event with another coming soon. Oh man… are the moids on the boards gonna be tinykittied at all the stuff they’re gonna wake up to tomorrow. Guess I’ll go have a beer since it is gonna take at least 90 minutes to do the disk check on the RAID array before the OS can even boot up.”
end scene
**for the non linux/unix/bsd/server people, “fsck” is a command that analyzes hard disks and makes sure they aren’t dying, not an attempt by me bypass the swearing rules.
It’s not affecting my rl relationships with my SO and my sleep patterns are weird anyway because I have multiple sclerosis… it’s just when a PvE event like this with a new character comes i’m like OH MY GOD I MUST GET IT BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING PVE EVENTS WILL REQUIRE THIS CHARACTER.
What is frustrating is we were told by the developers that they wanted to improve their communication in general only a couple weeks ago. While it is late, and I’m not expecting some sort of quick fix at this hour I do think just having someone from D3 wake up, sit up in bed, and text a tweet through the MPQ twitter feed (which seems to be nothing but tournament announcements and recent Deadpool advertisements still) to let us know there’s a server problem and that they’ll get an ETA on the issue shortly is more than reasonable for us to ask I think, especially since this occurred at a scheduled event closing, which I would imagine they monitor to some extent.
It’s only been just under an hour at this point, so things are hardly dire, but here’s D3’s opportunity to show it’s really trying to improve its community management skills. I just hope they don’t squander the moment.
