I never understood the idea of making excuses for others, when it does nothing to benefit you. People tend to want improvement, but i also see constant statements regarding the way things are, or why it couldnt change. And what does that gain someone? The ability to say “i told you so” on the internet? It is known that some of what is written on these forums is read by the company, the employees, the ‘devs’… So why not give ideas and support them? Let THEM say no. Its like an interview – if you apply for the job, the worst they can say is no… But they COULD say yes. If you never apply, then its the same as a ‘no’.
Sure, some of what was said may be true. But that doesnt mean it should be. Just because things are done one way currently, doesnt mean that the team couldnt adopt a different standard, or maybe even try changing a single facet. Operating procedures can be adapted, changed, and even thrown out. And to be honest, most companies change in order to keep things improving – to keep up with the Jones’, keep customers interested, and other incentives. Staying stagnant isnt what any company worth their salt does. And since the game has outlasted other mobile games in sheer longevity, its safe to say that the company knows how to shift gears at LEAST when minimally necessary, if not more often.
I give the developers plenty of credit. I would have never thought i would stick to one mobile game so strongly. Ive also been deep in the Puzzle Quest franchise since the first one. While MPQ shares few similarities with PQ1, 2, or even PQ Galactrix, it does enough unique things and pulls my strings just enough to keep me interested and happy. This means they are doing something right.
Anyway, when its said that this development team doesnt rebalance or change things in such a fashion (dont think i havent been around to witness it either), thats going on past knowledge. The PROPOSAL is that they change things going FORWARD. Tiny increments. Use the playerbase for widespread testing like most online games do. Risk a mistake again… its better than the appearance of apathy. Changing a damage value, AP cost, buff amount, etc, is just a number in the code. Try it out… And if the patch gives pleasurable results within a couple weeks or events, keep it. If not, change the value again. Whats the harm? The whales will pay - they’re too deep now. The vets will stick around… Same reason. And especially since in both situations, if too many torches and pitchforks are raised, the value can be reset or tweaked on the next patch.
You can spout any and every reason NOT to change something, and have some evidence or past knowledge to support – but we’ll just be right back here, with people asking for changes, with clammering for Bishop nerfs, rebalances, Talos bashing, etc.
As a firm player of this game for way too long, I would like to see it continue to grow and change for the better. I like ideas that make the company money and also improve the game. And i for one love the idea that a tweak of the numbers could spark shard sales, which means potentially more income for the company, and a potential rebalance for us.
