So with all the new ridiculous objectives, you’d think tiebreakers would be less of a problem right? Nope, I was rank 4 an hour before the end of the event with the two people above me with the same score. Come the end of the event, sure enough I’ve been pushed down out of top 5 to 6th. So thats another mythic I’ve been cheated out of just because I’m not able to play the last refresh straight away.
So now I’m pretty much locked out of top 5 for every event because silly tiebreakers still exist and instead of a shiny new mythic I’m stuck with yet another useless dupe rare.
Is there any plan on actually fixing this instead of just making more ludicrous objectives? Even just rewarding everyone tied for those top 5 positions with the relevant prizes would be better than just making it so that only people in particular timezones can compete for the top prizes. Whats even the point in the events if you’re prevented from the top prizes before you’ve even started?
If the top 5 actually had more points than I did then yeah you’d be right. This wasn’t the case though.
The game doesn’t actually let you check the leaderboard afterwards for whatever reason, but when I checked an hour before the end of the event I was ranked 4th and the players in 3rd and 2nd had the exact same score. In order for me to be pushed down 2 people would have had to score higher. So 3 people did get a higher score and thats cool, good job to them. The two people in 4th and 5th would have had the same score as me though.
That’s always been how it works, and unfortunately it doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon. There are two equally vocal groups here on the forums; one is full of people who’d like it to change, and the guy in the other one would like it to stay as it is now.
I want ties to be broken. I just don’t want everyone who ties to get prizes. I’ve said many times now that the only good long term solution is a significant upgrade to the AI.
The harder objectives are a decent stopgap measure in the meantime. It’s not a great solution in itself, but it’s better than nothing. I’ve tried to explain how it works while you make up imaginary pie charts in my thread.
I don’t mind time based breakers, but they have to be rare and not based on just the last round of nodes. If time is to be used, it should be time taken to complete all games, not who finishes first.
Hi Everyone. I’m noticing tensions starting to flare up. Please refrain from targeting individuals, and please keep discussions to a civil manner. Thank you.
If time is to be used, it should be time taken to complete all games, not who finishes first.
Thats a good idea …
I can understand Ultimadan, the time of the last round + bell*2 made me 27th at the last weekend. I was at work and couldnt play the last round at the right time.
So time taken from all matches should be really fair.
I have no vested interest since I’ve never been kept out of the top due to time zone issues as my lack on consistent perfect score wins does that for me already.
That out of the way, it seems these camps are more “let everyone who performed well win” which I completely support verses “I’m already winning and I only feel good about my win if you also lose, so I refuse to share a perfect score tie with you”
Clearly one side is more appealing and mature than the other, so why are we giving the same credibility to selfishness?
Crystals can be shared, but the cards/packs cannot. You’re not asking to share prizes. You’re demanding extra prizes. That’s the difference.
I’m going to make my suggestion again to award only crystals for winning. Then we can share like you suggest and everyone will be annoyed/happy with their share of a 20 way tie for first.
They absolutely can be shared. It’s not like there’s a finite number of mythics coming off the printing press. More cards come into being as often as people open/win them.
Awarding everyone who tied for first the same full first place prize won’t deminish the prize for anyone else. If first place is a mythic, everyone with a perfect score gets a mythic. It’s not hard to understand how that works. Just use Olympic scoring and you eliminate the issues surrounding time zones.
The solution is better tie breaks, not awarding 20 players gold. Using your Olympic example, if half your finalists are getting the same score because your stopwatch has an error margin of 10 seconds, you need to get a better stopwatch.
As it is, people used to being finalists are already complaining about the new stopwatches.
No it isn’t. Just no. Perfect scores should be rewarded with the same prize and etc. filtering down, rather than being split just due to speed of completion.
Thats why there should be a poll to clearly show D3 what do we want and why they keep DISCRIMINATING people who happen to live on the other side of the world having to wake up in the middle of night to stay competitive…
