Spell damage obj in Red COTC Btm node is bugged. [Investigating]

The damage caused by spells directly to the opponent’s Planeswalker isn’t being registered as spell damage according to the objective.

Cards used for spell damage

  • Magma Opus
  • Inspired Ultimatum

I had the same issue in that node of the event. Damage dealt to opponent’s creatures counts though.

Inferno Jet and a couple of Beacon Bolts - killed off greg but zero damage registered for the objective.

Same here. Chained lightning and inspired ultimatum.

Can confirm the bug.

From the observation of what was happening.

I used semi-loop deck to deal spell damage, plating Ral Izzet.

When you press YES on the loop reset dialog
damage done during the turn doesn’t register towards the objective.

if you manage to avoid falling into the infinite loop then damage shows after your turn ends.

I had the same issue. In the next match, I used Hour of Devastation to do 12 damage to creatures and the opponent. That triggered the objective, so the statement that only damage to creatures counts could be correct.
