Unfortunately, I began playing this game about 1 week after the big anniversary shebang. At least I think it was one week. I started playing 112 days ago. How many days ago was the anniversary week to be exact?
Anyways I have heard so many amazing things about the drop rates and tokens and the surprises and all of the amazingly fun and GENEROUS things that happened during that week.
Now that I am all tucked into bed with my Spiderman pajamas on, please please PLEASE grandfather…won’t you tell me the story?
The MPQ community had a general feeling of enjoyment, reward and happiness…and people bought special event tokens, and there were wonderful covers raining down from the sky with ISO for all.
I wonder what the next one will be like, or if many of us will even be around to see it?
I’m in the 2nd “tone it down” phase so my addiction is lifting. I haven’t spent real money in quite some time, and have sold a couple people instead of buying a new roster slot, and have been really playing much less pve. I’ve also chosen to not play new charecter pve unless i like the charecter in the actual comics. The game is slowly becoming what I intended to play it as…a a casual time killer on occasion Instead of an obligation I base my life around.
Double ISO all week (all iso should be like this)
One-week season that gave out Dino as reward (all seasons should be like this)
50HP once a day for event tokens, which had high Dino drop rate (all tokens should be like this)
I forget what PVP’s and PVE ran that week, it might have been 4* Thor LR’s that week as well?
It basically was a glimpse of everything MPQ couuld/should be, then they took it away as quickly as it came.
Bullshit they had better drop rates.
I got almost 15 of the “Anniversary Tokens” and ALL of them were 2 stars.
They were also pretty stingy with Devil Dino covers as well. Only one PVP offered them as rewards and that was it. I only managed 1 Purple cover out of the entire week.
I do agree that the Double ISO was a very nice touch, and something they should bring back way more often than they do, if not permanently.
There should have been an “Anniversary Season” that had a reward structure that gave out HP, Big ISO, and one of each Devil Dino cover in its progression reward structure. This way there was a 100% guaranteed way to get all 3 Devil Dino covers if you played in all of the events.
My 1 1 2 Devil Dino (3 of those covers from playing over a year via the Daily Login rewards), will never be close to playable at this rate, even if he is somewhat of a joke character. Hell, at least he’s playable unlike Bagman.
I had that week off and played so many 4* Thor lightning rounds that gave out crazy rewards coupled with the double iso. I made more progress that week than in 3 months probably, though the only proof I have of it all is a maxed out Dino.
The Anniversary Week had double iso on everything and a greatly increased drop rate on Devil Dino (but no one else) in the themed tokens. The 50 HP daily special token had similar odds as a heroic for everyone else but Devil Dino so it was a decent deal to gamble though of course each person’s mileage may vary.
The PvEs were Deadpool vs MPQ, and Venom: Heroic. I remember Venom: Heroic in particular, because they messed up the progression tokens, and gave out Venom: Heroic tokens, rather than Anniversary tokens. And that was the reason why they had the 20 person 4* Thor LR’s, to make up for the mixup with the Venom: Heroic tokens. Those 20 person LR’s were an absolute goldmine of Anniversary tokens!
Pvps were combined arms, balance of power and (I think) starfall. and this was back when sentry was completely dominant in pvp. The only crappy thing about the anniversary week season is that the 10-pack of anniversary token reward required 3k season score (so 1k per event). That’s more than the twice the score necessary to get the 10-pack in regular seasons.
Pve’s that week were Deadpool v. MPQ and then (I think) venom heroic. And as I recall that heroic was shockingly easy because everyone was grinding pvp for the season rewards.
LRs were the 20-person brackets with a max-cover loaner 4* thor.
And the anniversary tokens had great drop rates. I think they were slightly better than average heroic tokens, but then they had a few extra rewards included: a 2* reward for 7k ISO, a 3* rewards for many thousands of iso, a 3* reward for about 1k HP, and a 4* rewards for many thousands of HP.
In addition to all that, they dropped Dino at around 15%. All told, there was slightly under a 40% chance of a worthwhile reward from any given anniversary token.
There were a few hiccups. I think the first couple of events rewarded anniversary tokens, but the next round of events didn’t (apparently someone at demiurge entered the wrong rewards for the event). Their compensation was to add anniversary token rewards to the LRs (top 5 in each bracket and at 500 total points).
That was my first (and now only) real opportunity to play 4* thor in meanginful matches in pre-nerf state. She was a lot of fun, but I could also see that the charged tile mechanic was potentially game breaking.
Also, everything was in black & white, with a film grain effect applied. And all the sounds effects were replaced with text cards, like an old silent picture!
