That’s what I noticed too. I just wanna mess around on my goofy Arlinn Kord Scrapheap deck. I mean, I know it’s bad but it use to be a blast to play in QB. I have some “I Win” Mythics like Deploy and Olivia but that gets old. TFW you realize you may never play against an OG5 Planeswalker again…
I actually like Training Grounds better than the old Quick Battle thing. I’ve been taking in mana crystals at a consistent rate and in greater volumes than before with QB
I see the idea, but in practice tying rare rewards to win-percentage doesn’t give everyone a chance, just veterans. If you have better cards, you can build stronger, more consistent decks and win more often. If you’re a newer player, your win-percentage will be lower. I think it’s a much better idea to simply put a rare reward at a progression mark. If you wanted to give 10 mana jewels a day to players that maintain a 100% win-rate with at least 10-15 wins, then I think you’re on to something.
As a side note, what is the average win-percentage in this game? I never reset my counter, and I maintained about 91%, but that was including all of the dropped matches from way back in the day when I used to get dropped out of about a fifth of my games.
..against Koth.
Koth, Koth, Nahiri, Koth, sometimes Kiora, but then again..Koth, Koth.
To compensate the Kothception, I of course play also Koth - maybe Nahiri, and from time to time Kiora, so I’m part of the problem…Maybe I should run a Sorin deck once after finishing, just to add some variety for other players
I don’t know about that. When i started I played story mode for a bit and did a few events to the tune of probably 15 packs. Once I started qb off those packs I never had lower then a 92% win percentage. Ai is a little better now but 90% is still not out of the question.
I like Training Grounds. Really liked that we had two every day for a while. Of course that was too good to last.
I also liked Quick Battle. I liked the grind, the rewards and the single player competition.
Why can’t we have both?
I guess they feel like if they give us something new they have to take something away from us as well.
I’m also part of the Koth problem, but that’s because I’ve been trying to get red madness vampires to work (it doesn’t). I’ll start entering a different type of PW after I finish tinkering in the grounds.
Would like to see progression bumped up to 8 like when there were two. We don’t need 2x crystals just the 15 and maybe all runes after that would be great.
I love screwing around with fun decks in this mode!
I agree with Ohboy on this one… just give 300 runes for playing games. I made a post months ago about how much of a grind it was to get to the runes necessary to level PWs… To level a dual PW to lvl 60 you need roughly 160,000 runes. That was a whopping 533 games in QB. Now you have cut the runes post the first 4 games by 66%? We really need to play 1600 games to level 1 PW to max? Ridiculous.
Side note. They might have also got rid of the QB because they couldn’t figure a way to deal with the cheaters. What better way then to pull the whole thing then we can’t complain
I’m curious, how does one “cheat” in this game? Aside from hacking the system, I have been thinking about this and I’ve seen mention of it at times. I have often scored very high on QB and made it into top 10. I just never figured how one could accuse another of cheating in a video game. I’m no programmer or hacker, so I wouldn’t know how to cheat if someone told me.
I was a new player once and I would grind on QB to get to higher and higher positions. I had to work my way up. But like sports, you don’t just start swimming and in your first day you expect to beat Michael Phelps. It’s all about build-up learning playing styles, testing new decks, improving speed in how you play that deck, noticing the gem matches better, predicting, etc. But none of those things are cheating. If they were, then Michael Phelps cheats ever time he swims…
Point is, why not have a QB AND a Training Grounds? Further, why not make it optional - choose one or the other. If that were the case, I’d be on QB every time.
Because like the heading of this chat suggests, Training Grounds is boring… At least if you want to play more than 4 rounds and do much more than “test your deck”…
Its basically a hack. Thats about it. Just a dumb tool that hacks the game and lets you get to the top of the leaderboards for quick battle easily. can’t say any specifics or details beyond that, because this would get deleted.
i used to grind qb on weekends for runes, rares and boosters.
now i’m sorry for the new players that need to lvl their pws, goodluck on history mode or 1 million training grounds
Another way I think D3 could monetize this game is if they let people reset Story Mode. There’s tons of gems and runes lying around in Story Mode, at least the first time you do it. They could probably charge something like $20 to $30 to reset Story Mode, or maybe $10 to reset just Origins, Zendikar or Heroic Encounters. Heck, they could convert some of the events from the newer sets into Story Mode and charge $10 for that as well.
