Can we get one page with all the available info about AvA?

The original AvA forum post is linked with all the information. We aren’t editing the original post, though, so players can see that changes were made.

There are also now these articles available

The event is clearly complex and not easy for a human brain to grasp. Reading one page plus a changelog is even more complexity, but maybe this is the closest we can get to one accurate summary:

TLDR attempt:

  1. Your commander opts you into the AvA. (I do not really know what happens if you don’t choose to opt in on week 1; presumably you can enroll later but you won’t do as well). After a bit the game matches you against an alliance. After that play begins for members who aren’t commanders.
  2. Defense placement runs for 12 hours. Each Front has a tier rating for what maximum tier tons can be placed (2, 3, 4,5,6; only 2-5 appear in round 1). Inside the hexagon fronts will be nodes to defend (yours are blue-ish). Each member can fill in the boxes in the nodes to add up to 9 defenders. Defenders will be descended where applicable. Each copy of a toon can be used a maximum of 3 times over the 3 rounds of Defense → attack so if you put Polaris 3x on Defense for Round 1 you can’t place her again later in rounds 2 or 3.
    1. Your commander(s) can choose to remove defenders if you put Bagman in or something but doesn’t have to
    2. Each node has 3 waves of 3 defenders
    3. Each member can put down between 1 to 9 toons in a node; others can fill in gaps
  3. After Defense, Attack begins for 24 hours. Each player can attack 3x (play 3 matches vs the waves the other alliance placed on defense). You want to use teams that will take minimum damage (for example Cap Winfinite). If you attack very early you can get a recharge to do one more attack. Your team wants to take whole fronts (5 nodes inside) so focus on certain ones especially if there are not many people trying.
    1. If your opponent places zero defenders on a node, you can take it with no play needed but you still use up an attack to do so.
    2. After attacking ends, Defense begins again for 12 hours. A new 6 tier node is added in round 2.
  4. After 3 rounds of defense placement and attack the “Operation” ends and a winner is declared between the two alliances and rewards are distributed.
  5. After a day or so the next Operation begins vs a new alliance until 6 are played over 6 weeks and overall winners are declared.

I am attempting to be brief yet thorough but playing it as a member is basically:

  1. click a blue hexagon, find a node that needs defenders. Put your defenders down in spots that make sense.
  2. Wait.
  3. When attack begins, find red hexagons and choose nodes which you want to attack. Play 3 rounds of attack over the 24 hours, maybe 4 if you played early
  4. Wait.
  5. Repeat as needed.

EDIT: I may have gotten some of the terms wrong.

This event is not particularly complex although you may take a while to understand the scoring system. If you have 10 players willing to learn and play you will not be particularly burdened by the amount of time required to take part although of course we didn’t get to beta test for a full 6 weeks. Fair warning - we didn’t get to really test out what matchmaking was like due to the limited nature of the Beta so the first real test of it will be when the event goes live, if it works as the Dev envision we should hopefully get fairly stable MMR but the first Operation/Round of battles might be a little wonky - this isn’t the Devs fault as there would be literally no way of testing MMR without a full open Beta, so give them a little slack for that, MMR should tighten as the event proceeds and there are factors that cannot be accounted for such as a qualifying Alliance then having lots of players not take part. If you haven’t already it is recommended you actually ask your Alliance if they want to sign up and play, if you work together you can have lots of fun with this.
