I thought I would chime in to comment on how foretelling this was. I’d hoped this event might be a bit easier since I had a somewhat covered HB from the Ultron events and EOTS, but alas.
When I joined my bracket, scores were already nearing 1k. As my bracket closes, it’s now a solid wall of 1ks. So, being that I play this game on my own terms, I’d decided not to bother, and just went for the 300 point token as time allowed hoping for a lucky HB pull. No go. 2*, like virtually every other token pull I’ve had since pulling that HB out of the Ultron 10-pack (seems to be a patterned downside of actually drawing a 4*) I got as RND8 compensation.
At this point, I’m again at the point where I’m not even sure why I’m still playing. Since I leveled more of my heroes to 166, every bracket I’ve joined has been a death bracket, max or near max 3*'s out the gate, getting hammered by attacks starting around 400-500 points or lower, and sic a complete waste of time.
PvE is somewhat better, but only marginally. I calculated the amount of time it takes for a PvE is ~ 12+ hours for a 3* one, for which you might only get one or 2 covers (although I guess there is usually the progression reward - woohoo :). For a 4*, it’s probably longer (as they run longer). My token pulls have all been complete carp lately (and yes, I smell something fishy about them), so I’m asking myself again why I’m even playing.
Daily Tacos still are fun, albeit less so since my token luck has dried up, and PvE still has at least some placement possibilities (though similarly discouraging when every token pull is a 2*).
Plus, the very real health pack tax, or whatever we want to call it (basically the game giving free cascades when you’re about to win a match or it determines you haven’t taken enough damage, and wipes all your special tiles in the process, even if you have 20 of them, then proceeds to wipe your entire team).
I liked the Ultron event, and in principle liked the ISO cost reduction, but in practice, the game’s much more of a chore now than it was before the ISO reduction, health increases, weekly boosts, and MMR changes. I’m still playing PvE and Tacos I guess, but I’m also considering whether or not this game is still worth the time investment. A big part of the fun in a game like this is progression and compensation commensurate for the amount of effort / time you put in, and like when I quit the first time, I’m starting to feel this is no longer the case.
