[PITCH DECK] A 13-year old comfort game should not feel like a job

I’ll preference this with “I’ve butted heads with Chen while he was in KA”, there’s no love loss there. So, to the topic at hand, yes and no with what he’s saying.

Sure the speed freaks out there want things to be faster so they have to put little time into the game, and as he described: waiting in line, watching a movie, etc does have it’s appeal - and I too played at that game.

The switch to Unity engine effectively broke that. Straight away on its rollout my phone would turn into a furnace ready to fry an egg, everything was slow as hell, these days it’s certainly better, but it still gets quite hot. So speed has basically been put on the back burner for me. As for his call for patches for the engine and performance increases I’m all for it.

Time…this is where I’ll disagree. I’m not too worried anymore about how long it takes. I’ll play it by ear, and do things when I can, somewhere about the start/end times, that’s for PvE and PvP.

Increased health / difficulty for Scl10 & Heroic Mode - I’m all for those. Personally great additions for the game. The 2 things that I’d like to see for the Heroic version

  1. Heroic characters boosted - there’s the full boost if they are featured, maybe 50% for the rest

  2. more/better progression rewards for the Heroic Version.

Nerfing: probably the biggest contention in the game (I’ll do some specifics), I’m a yes / no with that. Hawkeye should never have been a T0 type hero - his abilities should have cost more or his yellow bring in less AP, Spidy increase in costs I’m a fan of.

Nerfing of 3May - that now I’m not so sure of, if the goal was to make sure she’s usable to ascend to 5…that was a bit shortsighted. 5Emma Frost is now basically someone who can challenge her for usefulness in the game, and Moonstone when it’s Thunderbolts time.

The biggest problem that is here in the game, is the nerfs. The removal of tools from people boxes. Polaris, MThor, Hawkeye and I would say especially 3May now, will drive more people out of the game.

Edit: forgot to add, nerfing the others but leaving May alone would have been enough to change things. Then reassess to see where to go next

I’m honored to have made it into the second set of slides, but I wish you’d have used my name.

I don’t believe I represent anything like 2.2% of the overall player population, just as your sample of 44 elite players is also insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Remember that something like 10% of all MPQ players have a character at lvl450 or above. Players with any character at 550 will be an even smaller group.

It’s important for them to pay attention to the concerns of the ultra-elite like us, the top fraction of a percent of players, but we are not a uniform group, and I don’t believe we represent the majority of revenue (or potential revenue) either. Our concerns also need to be balanced with those of new players, casual players, and those who haven’t even started playing yet.

LoL giant cope thread.

@Chenpion You are a making this thread and doing analysis. I get it you love the game. I did too, but that game you loved before is dead.

Looking at your post, even making it you are wasting you time.
The thing that you loved is dead and it’s not coming back.

The best thing I ever did was quit this game almost a year ago.
I check back once in a while, but all new updates affirm that me quitting was correct.

The dev’s don’t care about the customers and they don’t listen to feedback.

Take your bag and move on. It will be healthier for you.

I didn’t notice the little “made with Gamma” tag on the bottom of the slide deck until just now.

I suppose I should’ve guessed that this was all AI-generated. Maybe in the future our AIs can just debate about MPQ with each other.

Yeah, AI PPTs are very different and you can tell. They are “too” glossy and the shapes are very rounded and everything looks perfect and fake at the same time.

It happened between 2 chatbots and the resulting argument quickly turned into degrading racist comments that the companies forced to shutdown the bots…

There is so much misappropriated copyrighted material in this that no company could take it seriously, let alone one that actually has business relations with Marvel Comics.

Hi!!! I’m Avengers-1, co-Commander of Mad about MPQ, the Alliance referenced above.

That “stat” about placing solidly in 70s for the PvP Season? That was my own personal observation from the latest Season. But it wasn’t always that way…/insert record scratch sound here

When I joined Mad about MPQ we promoted ourselves as T100 PvE, and I still do, never referring to us as T100 Hybrid, even though over the past year or so the field changed, and instead of being edged out of T100 in the final hour…we began to hold onto our spot.

We began to consistently place T100 in PvP even though, as that graphic above states, Mad about MPQ doesn’t just have no PvP requirement, but some of our members don’t even play PvP at all.

We used to ask for 125% progression in PvE, expecting everyone to not just hit that, but that quite a few would go above & beyond, and you typically needed 125% for T100 in PvE.

These days all we ask for is 100%, but as with PvP, some of our team have off-days, and may only put a few thousand points on the board…or they may miss the event entirely.

And we still place solidly T100.

We placed T50 in one recent event with several players either AFK or just a few thousand points on the Board.

We placed T50 while “carrying” several members!!!

And we didn’t just scrape in; we were in the 30s.

edit And it may happen again! Hearts of Darkness we have 4 players below 100%, two with 20,000 points combined, and we’re currently No. 34

“Back in the day” that would never happen!!!

And we’re also consistently placing T100 in PvP while carrying probably close to half the Alliance.

I know it’s still “early” but I just checked the current season, and we’re at 38 with 6 members having not played at all, and 5 more with a combined score of less than 1,000 points. Our 10,000+ Season score putting us (currently) inside T50 is from less than half our members.

You know the reason why.

People are not playing the game like they used to, and even veteran players like me (Day 4,537) are hanging up their hats.

I used to be a T10 player, and to accomplish that I’d join a slice where I could play for close to an hour, uninterrupted, even setting an alarm to remind me to start my final grind.

These days I still hit at least 100% but my personal placement has dropped to T200, and I don’t really care. I don’t clear optimally, and sometimes I don’t even do final grind.

I do still enjoy the game, but for me it’s become more about collecting the characters, and so the match 3 “game” - for me - is really just a means to an end.

Unfortunately, I see the game steadily declining. I don’t want it to come to an end. My little sister retired a few years ago, and plays Dragonveil every day. Every morning she has her breakfast and coffee, and she does all her Dragonveil “chores”. I’m a few years away from retirement myself, and I’ve been looking forward to doing the same with MPQ…but I don’t know that the game will still be around then.

I don’t want it to “die”, I want to keep playing. I joke with my co-Commanders that I’ll be Milton in the basement. Eventually, one day (who knows when) they’ll pull the plug on the game, and I’ll be sitting in the dark, “Hello? I’m still here! Can I keep playing?!”
