A friend of mine and I had been saving up our HoD packs to try and get some of the exclusive mythic cards once they got mixed into the main set. Today was the day to give this a try, especially since we now got to see the expected rarity! We had a pretty decent sample size, 83 packs and 415 total cards so I was excited to see the results.
Well we opened 83 packs between us, and we found eleven rares and one mythic. Expected results as per posted percentages would have been 21 and 5.88 respectively. I could understand if the #'s were a little off, but this is whole bunch of whack.
I opened 50 single packs and recorded the opens. I transcribed about half so far.
I got in the first 21 packs: 53 common, 46 uncommon, 3 rare, 3 mythic. Have to go through the rest still, but I had also transcribed my Ixalan opens and got very tired of doing so.
Strangely, despite the uncommon drop rate listed being lower than the previously measured one, I’ve been getting a lot more uncommons since the update. The 21 day super pack just gave me 3 commons and 12 uncommons!
Must be something with the coding is wrong. Today I randomly got 4 rares from the free boosters. Sram’s Expertise, Gideon’s Phalanx, Obelisk Spider and Heroic Intervention. Yesterday I got Displacement Wave and Fetid Imp. All of them new for me.
Have opened 4 premium Ixalan packs and 3 prize packs. Have a total of 6 rares and 1 mythic. Not counting the guaranteed rares from the premium packs, that means I opened 1 mythic and 2 rares in 23 booster packs. I love how the blog mentioned multiple times that they wanted to put interesting cards at rare so that we could all get a chance to use them. I’ll never be able to, because rares are impossible to attain.
