This is more of an observation than a complaint. As a long time player, I automatically switched to Heroic mode for the nodes when I started playing, but then noticed that doing so removed/upgraded the standard covers. The problem I have with this is that I have brought most of the offers for 1* to 5* ascension offers when they come around and leveling those chars once ascended needs 1 star covers. Now I have noticed this, I will simply not switch to Heroic on those nodes, but curious if this was a known scenario by the team when they implemented Heroic mode, as I am sure there are many others in the same boat

You can turn it on or off per node, so just turn it off on the ones you haven’t done yet.
Yes, I know that now, as it says in my original post “Now I have noticed this, I will simply not switch to Heroic on those nodes” - but what my post is saying really is that this should have been confirmed in a better manner, given that they regualrly offer options to purchase ascended 1 stars, and the only way to level those is via standard tokens. I would hate to think they did this on purpose, so just mentioning it as feedback
The main way to level 1 stars is PvP. You get loads.

Standard tokens are actually incredibly inefficient for levelling 1​
, PvP is significantly faster. Just do 50 or 100 PvP fights per event and you’ll max those guys out super fast.
In this case they made PvE rewards noticeably better, but you prefer the old, worse ones. You can still get the bad rewards if you want them, so I’m not sure what the problem is.

When you say “in this case”, are you referring to Heroic rewards? If so, I personally wouldn’t say they are noticeably better. Better? Sure. But “noticeably”? Not at least to my old eyes. Definitely not enough to make me want to try to heroic.

So you used “noticeably” in the literal sense? If so, yes, one can notice they are better. However, if you meant “noticeably” as being “something amazingly” better, than that is where I would question it. My theory is that you meant it the second way but I do know you enjoy a good argument so will concede your original point. Yes, I can notice they are better. No, they are not better in any significant way.

When I opened all the stuff after I finished the sub, I had higher quality tokens than usual (including one actual legendary token!) and noticed that I got generally better stuff.
For me, it’s worth it, because I’m not playing competitively and I enjoyed the challenge of finding a team that could win these hard fights. I’d have done it for no rewards, so this is just a bonus!
For others, maybe there’s no amount of rewards worth doing it! That’s ok too. They made it optional.

I think there’s a reasonable case to make based on this example to not exchange tokens to a higher tier, but add tokens from a higher tier as an addition instead. But the devs probably won’t do this.

It’s been a couple years since you have been able to ascend the 1 stars. Are they not all 550 for you? I would think that concentrating on the 2 stars now would help your roster more?

Isn’t this problem solved by making it optional? If somebody desperately wants standard tokens for whatever reason, they can keep getting them by not choosing heroic mode.

I’m just taking a moment to acknowledge that you are the most reasonable commenter in this thread, yet people are still taking shots at you.
On a separate note, I switched to heroic for the same reason. It’s nice knowing I have the option to either breeze though in normal mode if I lack time, or have not engaging matches if I have the time for it.

Everyone can decide for themselves what’s of value; if you have played a lot you probably have 550 1-5s, but if you haven’t played PVP much you may not have all of them.
This is especially true if you didn’t buy any 1-5s and/or lower tier copies they sell periodically for cash.
But some may still want the rewards from adding levels to their dupe ascended 1s above the (more common) 3s they will get from Elite tokens instead of Standard tokens.
How is disagreeing “taking shots”? But maybe this wasn’t aimed at me. But if it was, for the record, I have great respect for EB but disagree with him quite often. In fact, I am in his alliance as it really fits how I play, even though he and I play very differently. Again, my disagreement with things that EB post in no way is taking a shot at him. I just happen to disagree.

I’ve gotten in trouble for this here before, but I’ll say it again: if you only talk to people who agree with you all day, you’ll never learn anything new. It’s absolutely possible to disagree with someone about stuff (especially something silly like a video game!) and still respect them. Having your opinions challenged means thinking about why you have those opinions, and sometimes, it means finding out your opinions were wrong and changing them.
So I don’t think you were “taking shots,” that’s what a forum like this is for. We disagree, and sometimes we learn from each other.

Just play each node in Normal mode if you want the same. Play lots of PvP, Shield Simulator and Lightning Rounds for those 1* cover rewards. You get a cover dropped after practically every match.
The rest of you, I just picture James McAvoy’s portrayal of Kevin Wendell Crumb in Split.

I have zero 550’s and only one 1a5 so I am happy for the choice. And yeah call me stupid but I never wanted to buy my way to them.
“taking shots” seems to have been interpreted in a more negative way than I intended.
My intent was a friendly poke at EB
